Mandisa "What If We Were Real" Cover
April 5th is fast approaching, & thus, so is the release of Mandisa's third studio album What If We Were Real. The cover art is above... but I think the (similar) cover for her first single "Stronger" is better. Also, considering she just hit her goal of losing 100 pounds, I'm surprised she isn't showing off her body a la Jennifer Hudson on the cover. Regardless, the music's what counts!

Mandisa Album Update
While we're on the subject of American Idol season 5-ers, I might as well throw in an update on Mandisa's forthcoming third studio album! The woman herself tweeted that the project has been titled What If We Were Real & will be released on (don't hold your breath waiting for this one...) April 5th of next year. That has to be one of the furthest-ahead releases I've ever known about, but at least we know we have something to look forward to![Source, Source]

"Come Together Now" Video Premiere
"Come Together Now" is the Michael W. Smith-led Haiti charity single featuring American Idol alumni Melinda Doolittle & Mandisa, among many others. It doesn't appear that Mandisa was given any solo parts, which is a shame, but Melinda was featured nicely & did a fine job. If you would like to support Haiti relief by purchasing this cool track, click HERE.

Mandisa Update
"He Is With You" Music Video
"My Deliverer" Live On TBN

"My Deliverer" Performance
Over the past several months since the release of her sophomore album Freedom, Mandisa has been busy doing some promotion, which can be seen by the music video & three performances above. All of this went under my radar at the time, but I thought I would take the opportunity to share these with you now. "He Is With You" is actually Mandisa's first video ever, despite being the second single off Freedom. It's a simple, but effective clip. Also, Mandisa can be seen displaying those impressive chops of hers in the performances, especially during the third one.

New Stuff Tuesday
Today is quite an exciting day for new releases if I do say so myself. First up, we have the highly anticipated debut album In A Perfect World... from Keri Hilson. I recently gave the set, which features the singles "Knock You Down" with Kanye West & Ne-Yo, "Turnin' Me On" with Lil' Wayne, "Return The Favor" with Timbaland, & "Energy," a glowing review, so be sure to support your girl & purchase your copy of the album by clicking its cover above. Also, Mandisa's sophomore album Freedom, which I gave a positive review & features the single "My Deliverer," comes out today (click cover above to buy). Last but not least comes "Bolt," the latest fun-filled, Oscar-nominated, computer-animated movie from Disney, which you can purchase by clicking its cover above as well.

Album Review: Mandisa "Freedom"
Mandisa is one of American Idol's signature belters. Since being surprisingly booted from the fifth season of the show in ninth place, she hasn't looked back, creating a successful career for herself in Christian music. Inspired by her recent 75-lb. weight loss, Freedom is the title of Mandisa's sophomore studio album. She keeps in line with the sound of her debut True Beauty by creating radio-friendly music with heart & soul. Freedom is a celebration & we're along for the ride!First single "My Deliverer" is a wonderful way to kick off the album. It goes well with "How Much," another uptempo that makes its inspirational message quite clear. Mandisa enters ballad territory with "He Is With You," another track with a great message, if not the strongest song. The groovy "Definition Of Me" finds Mandisa alongside the rapper Bianca from Group 1 Crew, which makes for, well, an interesting collaboration. "Not Guilty" is an on-point power ballad that shows us what Mandisa does best.
There's no way you can't feel good while listening to "Leave It In The Valley," which features a cool falsetto hook. "Victorious" follows & is the uptempo equivalent to "He Is With You." Mandisa offers more gorgeousness though on "Broken Hallelujah." Then, the celebration makes its way to church for "Freedom Song" & continues with "Dance, Dance, Dance." Finally, Mandisa leaves us with some refreshing words, courtesy of the ballad "You Wouldn't Cry."
Freedom is a pretty good blend of uptempos & ballads. Few of the 11 tracks are subpar, with the majority being quite enjoyable. Extra points are always given for a big voice anyway. Mandisa has provided us with a solid sophomore effort that is sure to provide many a renewing listen.
Rating: 4/5 Stars

Mandisa Christmas Performances
Little Drummer Boy
Feliz Navidad/Joy To The World
Mandisa did a little promotion for her holiday album It's Christmas just in time for Christmas earlier this week. She performed "Little Drummer Boy" & her medley of "Feliz Navidad" & "Joy To The World." It's Christmas is surprisingly good & out now. Note: The "Little Drummer Boy" performance unfortunately cuts off at the end.
