Brian McKnight is releasing a double album entitled Just Me on July 12th. The first disc will be a new studio album consisting of the following 10 tracks:
1. Temptation 2. Fall 5.0 3. One Mo' Time 4. Gimme Yo' Love 5. Husband 2.1 6. Without You 7. Just Lemme Know 8. End & Beginning With You 9. Careless Whisper 10. Just Me
Um, what's with all the decimals? Anyway, the second disc, which I admit I'm a bit more excited about, is a live album. Check out what makes up that 30-track disc HERE. This man is incredibly talented, but has rarely lived up to his potential; he is pretty incredible live though!
"Fall 5.0" is the first single off Brian McKnight's upcoming album Just Me (July 12th). The video's stupid, but I would actually like the song if it weren't autotuned. I mean, this is the man who held his own in a duet with Mariah Carey ("Whenever You Call", my all-time favorite of her ballads) for crying out loud! Since Just Me is a 10-track studio album accompanied by a concert though, it still might be worth checking out.
So, I take it, being that Brian McKnight's radio show takes place in LA, he recorded "I Love LA" with The Frat, which I think is made up of his sons & their friends, for the local CBS affiliate to promote the Lakers... because he hasn't an ounce of dignity left? Umm... his, uh, latest album Evolution Of A Man (which does NOT feature this song) is, uh, out now.

The Soul Train Awards made their return last night with a tribute-filled & foolishness-heavy (courtesy of hosts Taraji P. Henson & Terrence Howard) ceremony that also featured both decent performers, including some nice ones thrown into the tributes, & winners alike. (Re: The hosts, they were fine--I actually like Taraji--those who put it all together simply seemed to favor odd skits in place of giving out actual awards...) Toni Braxton opened the show (I love saying that!) with her new single in a classy, yet sassy manner that was almost perfect (yuuup, indeed). Keri Hilson performed "Knock You Down," "Slow Dance," & "Turnin' Me On" in her usual fly way. In a weird segment comparing Ryan Leslie's ivy league education to Mario's upbringing in the hood that seemed to unintentionally diss the more talented latter, the two performed separate sets that were good, if not for the strange chopping of their songs. Estelle & Melanie Fiona joined a slew of others on stage to honor Motown's 50th anniversary, while Fantasia ..passionately screamed.. her part of the Chaka Khan tribute & Brian McKnight sang during the tribute to Charlie Wilson. I can't knock 'em for at least getting several of my favs, particularly the MIA-as-of-late Fantasia, to perform in the tributes. Now, you wouldn't know most of this from watching the show, but Beyonce won three golden trains for Album Of The Year, Best Female Artist, & Song Of The Year ("Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)"). Also, Keri Hilson walked away with the awards for Best New Artist & Best Collaboration with Kanye West & Ne-Yo ("Knock You Down"). Nice job, ladies! HERE are all the winners.
Michael Jackson scores his sixth #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart this week by selling 373,000 copies of his "This Is It" soundtrack, which also gives him his best sales week in fourteen years. Also debuting at #20 is Brian McKnight's Evolution Of A Man. On the Hot 100 singles chart this week, Imogen Heap, err, Jason DeRulo gets his first #1 with "Whatcha Say." In addition, Alicia Keys & Jay-Z's "Empire State Of Mind" shoots 13-3 & scores the Airplay Gainer & Digital Gainer titles.
First of all, I've really been looking forward to seeing this show & now we ALL can because Pink's "Funhouse Tour: Live In Australia" CD/DVD has been released! Or, at least, I think it has... I went to my local Best Buy & Target, & NEITHER of them had it. In any case, Amazon DOES, so feel free to get your copy! What also has been released (& for sure!) is "Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs." This third installment in the franchise is exciting & very entertaining, so be sure & check it out as well!

Brian McKnight is readying his new album Evolution Of A Man for an October 27th release. Check out the cover for it above. Brian's voice never ceases to amaze me, but his music isn't always the best. Hopefully Evolution will change that.
Brian McKnight is putting the finishing touches on his first studio album in three years. He is planning to include tracks ranging from his usual, such as likely first single "What I've Been Waiting For," to more experimental, like a reggae-feeling one. Also set for inclusion are duets with Stevie Wonder on "Without You" & Jill Scott on "More Than Just A Thing." I haven't exactly followed Brian's career closely, but he's an incredible talent whom I've always especially loved on "Whenever You Call," his 1998 duet with Mariah Carey. This album does, however, seem to be shaping up to be pretty impressive. In related news, Brian is working on a late-night talk show that will air weekends on The CW beginning September 18th. Sounds fun.
R&B stars T-Boz & Brian McKnight have signed on to be a part of the new season of Celebrity Apprentice. The pair will endure the wrath of Donald Trump when the show premieres March 1st. These silly reality shows sure get on my nerves, but at least we will have the opportunity to see T-Boz again after so long. Girl, just release a solo album already & all your financial troubles will be behind you!
Brian McKnight brought along his two sons--Brian Jr. & Nicholas--to help him perform "Let It Snow," which is taken from his new Christmas album I'll Be Home For Christmas (out now), on The Early Show. A short interview follows the performance. They all sound great!
Looking for something to brighten your holiday? The incredibly talented & very underrated Brian McKnight has released his first Christmas album in 10 years & first studio album in two years with I'll Be Home For Christmas. Currently featured on iTunes' Discovery Download is the album track "The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year," which you can get for free HERE. Another day, another random album appearance for Katharine McPhee. I'm only kidding, as I'll always take what I can get, but Katharine McPhee will, among others, be featured on the new album from David Foster called Hit Man: David Foster & Friends (November 11th). The collection will cover David, a pianist, playing during his "David Foster & Friends" concert earlier this year. Check out some of the highlights of the CD/DVD's tracklisting below:
