Michelle Williams "Cancers 4 A Cause" Ads

Michelle Williams poses it up for a good cause in this pair of shots supporting Cancers 4 A Cause: Where Music Meets Fashion 4 A Cure. It's always great to see a celebrity using their recognition to help out, but it doesn't hurt that she looks fab with her short 'do in that ribbon dress!

Michelle Williams Leaves Music World

Like the other done-wrong former DC3 member before her, Michelle Williams has decided to leave Mathew Knowles' management company Music World Entertainment. It's obvious why, but here's her statement if you wanna read it:

"From my time in Destiny's Child to my solo career, I am grateful for everything Mathew & his team has done for me. We've shared great success together. However, as I move in a new direction in my career, I felt it was time. I wish Mathew Knowles & the Music World Entertainment family all the best."

Very classy, Shelly. Especially since all Mathew's 'done for you' lately is run your amazing album Unexpected into the ground. Michelle's just fine though because she starts her stint on Broadway in the musical "Chicago" on February 8th!

Michelle Williams Performs On Pepsi Smash

Don't Stop The Music

Hello Heartbreak

Michelle Williams stopped by Yahoo! Music's Pepsi Smash recently to perform a cover version of Rihanna's "Don't Stop The Music" as well as her own "Hello Heartbreak," which is taken from Michelle's newly released album Unexpected. I was actually rockin' Unexpected today. Anyway, I thought she did a nice job with "Don't Stop The Music." Personally, I really enjoyed the "Hello Heartbreak" performance.

Michelle Williams "The Greatest" Video Premiere

"The Greatest" is the second single off Michelle Williams' recently released album Unexpected. Looks like the long-awaited video was worth the wait. Michelle looks wonderful & this is in fact one of the best songs on her awesome new album, so there's just nothing to lose here. If you haven't already, now is definitely the time to discover the 'great'-ness that is Michelle Williams!

Billboard Update

^This week's #1 album on the Billboard 200 chart
This week's #1 single on the Hot 100 chart^

See full charts HERE.

T.I. begins a second week atop the Billboard 200 album chart with Paper Trail, but nobody cares. This week's big news is that the one & only Britney Spears has returned to the top of the Hot 100 singles chart for the first time since her debut single "...Baby One More Time." Britney's new single "Womanizer" (new official cover art above) also broke the record set by T.I. last week of largest leap to the top by skyrocketing 96-1. Congrats, Britney! Unfortunately, Michelle Williams' management screwed her into a #42 debut with her new album Unexpected. Lastly, I thought I'd congratulate Jennifer Hudson for reaching #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with her latest single "Spotlight."

Michelle Williams Interview On Today

What do you know? Apparently, someone finally informed Michelle Williams' people that her new album Unexpected dropped this week. While she didn't perform, Michelle gave a very entertaining interview on Today this morning. Go Michelle!

Michelle Williams "The Greatest" Video Preview

Check out this first look at Michelle Williams' video for "The Greatest," the second single off her new album Unexpected, which came out this week! At least we get something to serve as promotion for Michelle's album release. "The Greatest" is an awesome song & the video definitely looks promising.

New Music Tuesday: Michelle Williams "Unexpected"

Former Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams changes it up with her third solo album Unexpected, which is out today. Her new album is a move away from her previous pair of gospel efforts & features the single "We Break The Dawn." I highly recommend purchasing Unexpected (you can read my review HERE), which can be done by clicking the album's cover on the Amazon widget to your right. I'm sure the (at least) 45% of you interested in the album knew it was finally out though, considering the wonderful job Michelle's label has been doing this week promoting it... Anyway, I just wanted to note that while I may have been quite generous with the 5-star ratings as of late with my album reviews, if people want to serve up great music, then I'll take it!

Album Review: Michelle Williams "Unexpected"

Honestly, Michelle Williams was always the Destiny's Child member I didn't particularly care for as a solo artist. I only say this because it appears that she knows that many of us felt this way. However, Michelle is looking to change all that with her secular debut Unexpected. This album serves as her third solo record, following a pair of gospel efforts, & a drastic change from the sound she was previously known for aside from DC3. As the album's first track "Unexpected Intro" suggests, I didn't actually expect Michelle to venture into the territory that she does with Unexpected. Thankfully though, she did. (Just to clarify: her sound is 'unexpected,' not the release of the album, despite what her label might hope. :P)

Unexpected kicks off with the aforementioned intro & "Hello Heartbreak," a killer Euro-pop/dance track. The album's first single "We Break The Dawn" serves as a solid introductory effort to prepare Michelle's new audience for what is to come. "Lucky Girl Interlude/Lucky Girl" follows, with a slow introductory section leading to another excellent uptempo offering. Michelle slows it down for the incredible second single "The Greatest," a gorgeous ballad with wonderful vocal layering effects.

The Euro-pop goodness returns with "Till The End Of The World," which is irresistibly catchy, & "Private Party," which features really great production. "Hungover" is an uptempo with a slightly different vibe, which creates nice diversity. The urban-influenced, Flo Rida-assisted "We Break The Dawn (Part 2)" is also included here for good measure.

Michelle then offers up the midtempo "Stop This Car," a heartfelt song that helps balance out the album. The title track "Unexpected" has an appropriately epic feel to it with Michelle displaying her unique vocals well. After hearing the more dance-influenced songs as they leaked, I was pleasantly surprised once again when I first heard Unexpected's last two tracks. "Thank U" is a really cool midtempo that has Michelle finding the light at the end of the tunnel created by a nasty break-up. The album's closer is "Too Young For Love," a lovely story of a young couple in love.

Probably my favorite thing about Unexpected is that Michelle was able to find a sound that works absolutely perfectly with her voice. I can't think of anyone who does the currently popular Euro-pop sound better than Michelle Williams. The album does, however, have a great blend of music as well. Unexpected definitely was for me & I hope you give it a shot as well.

Rating: 5/5 Stars

Michelle Williams ft. Flo Rida "We Break The Dawn (Pt. 2)" Video Premiere

Here's the music video for Michelle Williams' "We Break The Dawn (Pt. 2)," which features Flo Rida & is the remix to the first single off her upcoming album Unexpected (October 7th). If this is what they were planning to do with those two extra months they so desperately needed for more promo of Michelle's new album, then they made a big, fat mistake. They didn't re-shoot the video, which is for the version of the song they apparently needed for the urban appeal, & it doesn't feature Flo Rida--just giant words during his part. Yeah. Imagine: what if they actually considered promoting her radio-friendly second single "The Greatest" with a video?

Michelle Williams Performs On J&R MusicFest

"The Greatest"

"We Break The Dawn"

"Hello Heartbreak"

"Stop This Car"

So, as it turns out, Michelle Williams performed at the J&R MusicFest in NYC recently as well--& quite a large set at that. While her vocals during the performances were just alright, Michelle has a great energy onstage, which I love. Michelle performed four songs off her upcoming album Unexpected (October 7th) including first single "We Break The Dawn" & forthcoming second single "The Greatest," which is one of 'the greatest' songs on the album. Unexpected may not drop till October, but let's be real: the thing leaked. That said, Michelle has something very special on her hands, so I really hope Columbia can get the promotional job done with "The Greatest" in time for Unexpected to not only get released in October, but rock the charts as well. The material--& Michelle--are both worth it.

Michelle Williams On The Wendy Williams Show

"We Break The Dawn"

Interview

Michelle Williams was recently a guest on The Wendy Williams Show, where she performed her single "We Break The Dawn," which comes from her upcoming album Unexpected (October 7th), & took part in an interview with Wendy. The interviews from Wendy Williams are always the most entertaining. Michelle also did very well with the song. I also have to say that Michelle is looking very nice!

Michelle Williams Performs "We Break The Dawn" On The Early Show

Columbia Records are finally getting the ball rolling with promotion for Michelle Williams' third studio album Unexpected, which is set for release on October 7th. Michelle appeared on The Early Show recently for a short interview, followed by a performance of her first single "We Break The Dawn." I was very impressed by Michelle's performance, especially because of her vocals. Her new sound is definitely not just the studio magic I was afraid it would be.

Michelle Williams "Unexpected" Final Tracklisting

There have been previous reports on the tracklisting for Michelle Williams' breakthrough third album Unexpected, but it appears we finally have the real one. Here it is, via Amazon:

1. Unexpected Intro
2. Hello Heartbreak
3. We Break The Dawn
4. Lucky Girl Interlude/Lucky Girl
5. The Greatest
6. Till The End Of The World
7. Private Party
8. Hungover
9. We Break The Dawn (Part 2 ft. Flo Rida)
10. Stop This Car
11. Unexpected
12. Thank U
13. Too Young For Love

This comes not only as realistic news, with the addition of the more urban-friendly version of first single "We Break The Dawn" that features rapper Flo Rida, but good news, as this listing has the most tracks. Whatever the content, I can't wait for the release of this title on August 12th.

Michelle Williams "Unexpected" Cover

Check out the cover art for Michelle Williams' upcoming album Unexpected, due August 12th. I am so *almost* sold on the cover. It's sooo perfect ... until the bottom. What's with the weird, messy effect & the random yellow font? Anyway, let's focus on what's most important: Michelle looks stunning & has chosen the perfect representation of what the album will probably be.
