Album Review: Angels & Airwaves "Love"
Starting with the free release of Love (Part One) in February of last year, then the "Love" movie release, & finally Love (Part Two) in November of this year, it's been a long time coming for Angels & Airwaves' Love project. Now that we have the entire musical work, is it really the most epic creation from AVA yet?Love (Part One)
1. "Et Ducit Mundum Per Luce": A musical intro is always a good thing (at least from Angels & Airwaves).
2. "The Flight Of Apollo": A decent way to start off the album, nothing more, nothing less. 4/5
3. "Young London": The latter portion of this song saves it. I just... "suit up, boys"... I can't... 4/5
4. "Shove": The highlight of the album thus far. Not just lyrically, but the heart that makes AVA special is there. 4.5/5
5. "Epic Holiday": They really start to hit their stride musically here. Not sure I can completely get behind the lyrics though (read: cheesy). 4.5/5
6. "Hallucinations": I think they were right to release this as the first single because it's really some of their strongest work on the album. 5/5
7. "The Moon-Atomic (...Fragments & Fictions)": Structurally, this song gives me the same kinds of feelings that Angels & Airwaves gave me at times in their first two albums that made me fall in love with them. 5/5
8. "Clever Love": This one is similar for me to the previous track, but has a little bit of "Epic Holiday'"s issue. 4.5/5
9. "Soul Survivor (...2012)": The only thing I don't particularly care for here is the chorus. 4.5/5
10. "Letters To God, Part II": I can't really say anything negative about this song musically, but I'm not too sure how I feel about the lyrics. 4/5
11. "Some Origins Of Fire": My favorite song on the first part of the album. This one does things to me, like anytime when AVA is at their best. 5/5
Love (Part Two)
1. "Saturday Love": Fairly strong way to initiate the second part of Love, but the lyrics continue to be a bit... distracting. 4/5
2. "Surrender": There you are, anthemic goodness! 5/5
3. "Anxiety": This was a great first taste of Love (Part Two) (when it was played in theaters with "Love"). Another highlight. 5/5
4. "My Heroine (It's Not Over)": The latter part of this song is also better (like "Young London"), but as a whole, it's pretty good. 4.5/5
5. "Moon As My Witness": Not sure if it's supposed to be, but this makes a nice interlude. 4/5
6. "Dry Your Eyes": This is a direct replica of "Everything's Magic". C'mon, guys, that was a single! 3.5/5
7. "The Revelator": This (almost) has the same appeal of "The Moon-Atomic"... not really anthemic, but effective all the same. 4.5/5
8. "One Last Thing": One last good anthem! 5/5
9. "Inertia": Another faux interlude... not quite as enjoyable. 3.5/5
10. "Behold A Pale Horse": Decent, but there's nothing too special about this one. 4/5
11. "All That We Are": Considering the company it has as an AVA album closer ("Start The Machine", "Heaven", "Some Origins Of Fire"), this one pales in comparison. The instrumental ending is great though. 4/5
If you consider the Love album as one body of work, the beginning (of Part One) & ending (of Part Two) are the weakest in general, with the middle section being where the stronger material resides. I feel like if a few disposable tracks were done away with & Love was just a single decent-sized album, it would've been better. Instead, we have a pair of albums that, at times, are lyrically (see: Part One) & musically (see: Part Two) half-baked, & I find myself struggling to really connect with them the way that I did with We Don't Need To Whisper & I-Empire. All that said, the albums are enjoyable-enough listens for an Angels & Airwaves fan.
Rating: 4/5 Stars

Angels & Airwaves "Anxiety" Video Premiere
"Anxiety" is the first taste of what's to come from the second part of Angels & Airwaves' Love album, which will finally be released physically in all of its deluxe glory alongside the movie of the same name on November 11th. Some of you may have already seen this, as I did, on the big screen at AVA's Love Fathom event, where they also screened the "Love" movie. As for that, I'm sorry, but I did not care for it. I was expecting better/something involving more of their music, but instead received something with no storyline that didn't need 90 minutes to prove its point & didn't even pay off in the end. That said however, I've seen movies with MUCH bigger budgets that didn't look as nice & crisp, & I did find the Q&A interesting. I LOVE the new song though & am still very excited for the new album!

Angels & Airwaves "Epic Holiday" Video Premiere
"Epic Holiday" is the second single to be taken from Angels & Airwaves' third album Love, the physical/double album/movie release of which has been postponed to the fall... because Tom likes to torture us by instead making punk music that everyone in the band has moved on from (well, Tom & Travis at least) purely for profit. And when I say second single, I use the term lightly because it's only being released in Germany, as it's featured in some movie (think Keri Hilson's "I Like").

New Angels & Airwaves "Love" Trailer & Poster + More
Angels & Airwaves have released this new trailer for their "Love" film, which is set to make its premiere to the masses on March 22nd. The official movie poster, which has also been unveiled, is below. Accompanying the movie that day will be the Love double album, which will include two new songs as well as new instrumental music. The original album will be re-sequenced to include this new material, resulting in an album 90-120 minutes long! My only question at this point is still - will there be a physical release for all of this or not?! I'm hoping so, but I really hope there aren't any more pushbacks because I don't think I can wait any longer!

Angels & Airwaves To Continue Sharing The "Love"
Angels & Airwaves frontman Tom DeLonge recently took to the band's official Facebook page to make a very special announcement, which you can watch above. On Valentine's Day 2011, the one-year anniversary of the free digital release of their third album Love, AVA will finally unveil the "Love" feature film--but that's not all! A second part of the Love album will also be released! It is unclear at the moment in what way these releases will take place or what this all means for the 30 extra minutes of instrumental music, part of the soundtrack to the "Love" movie, that we were supposed to receive, but this minor confusion is a small price to pay for the whopping double treat we are set to receive this upcoming February 14th!

"Hallucinations"
Interview
Last month, Angels & Airwaves stopped by Last Call With Carson Daly for a chat & a performance of "Hallucinations", the first single lifted from their FREE (no strings attached--click HERE) album Love. I found Tom's discussion on AVA's link to Box Car Racer especially interesting. The performance was cool too. In related news, tune into FUEL TV's Check 1, 2 on May 17th @ 8/7c to watch an Angels & Airwaves concert! I will be!!

Angels & Airwaves "Love" Update
As the free release of Angels & Airwaves' third album Love on Valentine's Day approaches, there are a few details you need to know. While the 10-song set will be available digitally on February 14th, a deluxe version of Love featuring 30 minutes of bonus material (supposedly all instrumental) is set to be released at a TBA later date for a cost of around $5-10, a small & worthwhile price to pay, I assure you. Additionally, the "Love" film, for which the album of the same name will effectively serve as the soundtrack, will be released in select theaters later this year. Personally, since nothing good ever comes anywhere near me, I am hoping for a DVD release of the movie sooner than later, but right now, it's all about the Love album--in just 19 days! And now, to contradict myself, here's the final trailer for the film in case you haven't seen it & are curious:Thursday, December 24, 2009

Angels & Airwaves Album Update + More
Angels & Airwaves fans have been curious what is next for the band ever since blink-182 reunited. Well, AVA has an announcement to make & it's quite a large one! The band is set to release their third album Love as well as a film project of the same name before the year's end ... for FREE! The "Love" film was previously to be named after their sophomore album I-Empire, but I'll let Tom give the rest of the details:"[Love is] the biggest release of my life, the pinnacle of my creativity; it's super conceptual & highbrow in many ways, very artistic. ... It's a very modern version of what could happen when you blend the film industry & the music industry together in a very, very arty, kind of cool way with professionals involved all along the path."
Angels & Airwaves are one of my random musical obsessions, but it's only because they are completely brilliant, so you can imagine my excitement that comes along with this news!

"A Night For Vets" Performance Highlights
Kanye West "Jesus Walks"
Tonight, a special aired entitled "A Night For Vets: An MTV Concert For The BRAVE." Kanye West performed "Jesus Walks" in a pre-recorded segment from his "Glow In The Dark" tour that was entertaining, but the stars of the show imo were Angels & Airwaves. Their performance of "Secret Crowds" was totally awesome. You can't blame Tom for his silliness, but what I love about AVA is that they really seem to understand music, which makes for some great music indeed.
