It might seem weird to you that Michael Jackson's picture is attached to this article--& that's because it is--but he, behind only Taylor Swift, leads this year's nominees for the 2009 American Music Awards with five nominations. Following are Beyonce & The Black-Eyed Peas, each with three nods. To take a peak at the entire list of nominees, click HERE. As was the case last year, not the awards, but rather the performances, will be the reason to watch the show. Confirmed performers so far include Adam Lambert, who will sing whatever the first single from his debut album is, Jennifer Lopez, The Black-Eyed Peas, & Alicia Keys. The lineup is already shaping up to be quite impressive, but the stunt they're pulling with MJ for ratings is ticking me off. As much as we all, myself included, love the icon, it's obvious that he did nothing this year (e.g. release an album) that would quality him for these kinds of nominations, so it's a shame they feel that the AMA's so desperately need press that they're willing to pimp out a legend that only passed away earlier this same year. I would've suggested a special honor instead. In any case, the 2009 American Music Awards will air live on Sunday, November 22nd, @ 8/7c on ABC.
