^#1 Album #1 Single^
Sugarland's Walmart-exclusive Live On The Inside is tops on this week's Billboard 200 album chart, but Number Ones from Michael Jackson is the top-seller once again with 98,000 copies sold. With a little help from "I Gotta Feeling," The Black-Eyed Peas tie Usher's record for most consecutive frames atop the Hot 100 singles chart, while Whitney Houston's "I Look To You" debuts at #74 on the chart this week. On an interesting note, Mariah Carey debuts at #1 on the Hot Singles Sales chart with "Obsessed" after the Walmart-exclusive single sold 1,000+ copies in violation of the street date. Lastly, here's a cool excerpt about Jordin Sparks from Chart Beat, my favorite Billboard column:
SPARKS FLIES: 2007 American Idol queen Jordin Sparks collects her fourth consecutive top 10 in as many tries on the Pop Songs/Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart, as "Battlefield" charges 11-8. The title track from her sophomore album follows a trio of top 10s last year from her debut self-titled set: "Tattoo" (No. 5), "No Air" (No. 2), & "One Step At A Time" (No. 3).
Sparks is the first Idol alumnus to storm the chart with four career-opening top 10s, passing 2006 finalist Chris Daughtry, whose band Daughtry arrived with three: "It's Not Over" (No. 1), "Home" (No. 3), & "Over You" (No. 4). The group's fourth pop single, "Feels Like Tonight," peaked at No. 12.
