"If I Were A Boy"
Interview
Beyonce ain't playin' around with this new album, but then again, we knew she wouldn't. She appeared on Oprah today to perform (you guessed it) "If I Were A Boy" & sit down with the talk show host for a chat. The interview was an enjoyable one, as they always are on Oprah. The performance was outstanding. However, though I don't mean to take away from the performance, does anyone else feel like *they* don't want "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" to be a hit? I mean, think about it. Exhibit A: "Single Ladies" has only been properly performed once--& that was alongside "Boy," which has been performed several times now. Exhibit B: When "Boy" was released digitally, it soared up the charts ... but "Single Ladies" hasn't even been released on iTunes yet & the album comes out next week. It is a first single after all, isn't it? What's the deal? Exhibit C: It's not like people aren't liking "Single Ladies." With airplay alone, the song has managed to become a top 5 R&B hit. It would shoot straight to #1 with digital sales tacked on! It seems like to me that, even though Beyonce does "Boy" justice everytime she sings it live, they would rather ram that song down our throats because the critics like it than allow "Single Ladies" to become the bigger hit. It just kills me because "Single Ladies" is begging to be performed. Anyhow, Beyonce's new album I Am... Sasha Fierce arrives November 18th.
