Is it terribly nerdy that I've been patiently awaiting simply the tracklisting for this album? Whether it is or not, the tracklisting has finally been revealed for Jennifer Hudson's self-titled debut album, which is set for release on September 30th. Check it out below:
1. Spotlight
2. If This Isn't Love
3. Pocketbook (ft. Ludacris)
4. Giving Myself
5. What's Wrong (Go Away) (ft. T-Pain)
6. My Heart
7. You Pulled Me Through
8. I'm His Only Woman (ft. Jazmine Sullivan)
9. Can't Stop The Rain
10. We Gon' Fight
11. Invisible
12. And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going (Highlights Version)
13. Jesus Promised Me A Home Over There
Since we've only heard of a limited number of song titles thus far, I must say I find this interesting. J-Hud & T-Pain? Ok. I see they decided to include her signature tune from "Dreamgirls," & hey, no argument here (though I've no clue what a "highlights version" is supposed to mean.) That gospel influence she mentioned in her recently posted interview is evident in the last track. It should be noted that this tracklisting, curiously enough, included Jennifer's fellow American Idol season 3 contestant (the winner actually) Fantasia as the featured artist on track #8 instead of the confirmed artist Jazmine Sullivan, but I'd take Jennifer's word for it over Amazon's any day. Whatever the case, I sure would like the Idol duet to leak to hear the two, in a sense, reunite; I still, however, stand by my statement in support of a Jennifer/Jazmine duet. But enough of my babbling. Go Jennifer Hudson!

I believe in the record company's effort to make Jennifer a break out cross-over star, that they have diminished the very thing that people enjoyed about her and that was her throw-back, soulful voice. T-Pain? Really? I'm not so interested in this album anymore.
I remember when she first started recording her album and she said there was going to be no hip hop and now we have fuckin T-Pain?
And where is the song "Happy Place"?
And why in hell include "And I Am Telling You"? Jennifer is always talking about how she is her own person and not Effie, or Louise or Rosaleen and now you're going to include this dinosaur of a song on your debut album.
I hope this album does well just for the sake that she can have more say in her second album which I think will bring the soul because this shit sounds like trite commercial pandering.
You make a very good point anonymous. Those are my thoughts exactly so therefore there is no need for me to say anything.
I don't think we should crucify J-Hud just because her record company insisted on one track with T-Pain on it for marketability. The rest of the album could very well be just what her fans want to hear from her. And while I do agree that "And I Am Telling You" seems a bit old to include, it's been so long since "Dreamgirls," they probably just want to make sure people remember that this is the girl that blew us all away so that we will buy her album.
