David Archuleta Concert Review

This past weekend, I was fortunate enough to catch David Archuleta's concert in Albuquerque, NM. Most of my readers are aware by now that I'm a huge fan of this guy. I supported him throughout American Idol & I still do. Well, after this weekend, David's album, on a scale of 1 to 10, represents his talent at about an 8. Even his brilliant performances like "Imagine" & "Angels" on Idol, as far as I'm concerned, are about a 9. David Archuleta's incredible talent cannot be fully absorbed until you see him live. There is no doubt in my mind that he is one of the greatest talents of our generation.

Although the venue was a little O_o , it all worked out for the best because we could see David quite well. I thought the setlist was excellent. He performed just enough material from his album, some of the bonus tracks (which is a rare perk), & even a selection of his favorite songs. One of the highlights, though, was definitely the new song "Zero Gravity." He really got into that one--& for good reason! Hopefully this isn't too much of a spoiler for anyone, but I also enjoyed the encore, which had David take the stage alone at his keyboard. It was the perfect way to top off the perfect evening.

Even in front of a sold-out crowd, David was just the sweet, grateful person I expected &/or hoped he would be. He even sang Selena again at the audience's request! David put on a great show that, at the heart of it, had precisely what I am always looking for: the music. Not that they'll do his flawless showing any justice, but I'll share some of his performances with you below:

"A Little Too Not Over You"

"Zero Gravity"

Medley ("One," "You Gotta Be," "Love Song," & "I'm Yours"--Jason Mraz WISHES he was this good!)

He's amazing live, isn't he? I saw him live during Idol tour for the first time, and just had to come back to the USA to catch some of the jingle jams with him and again for some of his solo tour shows, just because he's just so so so so so so good live.

Can't wait to see him again in May when he hits the UK (yay!) over here! :)

Have a good day!

Annie from Germany

P.S.: In case you don't know yet (which I doubt, haha), the bonus tracks Works For Me and Somebody Out There are now finally available on iTunes, too!!! :) YAY!

So great that you were able to see David! Yes, I remember you're a fan and I definitely agree that hearing David live is an incredible experience. I saw him on this tour and I'm still numb after more than a week.

I saw David in New Jersey, which was the 3rd stop of this tour. He was a little under the weather, yet he hit every note! He is incredible! I love his CD, but his live performances take each song to another level altogether. And catherine, I know exactly what you mean. It's been 2 weeks since the show and I haven't been the same since! He really leaves you wanting more! Thank goodness for Youtube!!

I too am a huge fan! His voice live is amazing and his performance skills remarkable for someone on their first solo tour.

Got to see David on the AI Tour in Phila and once you see/hear him in a live setting it's overrrrrrrrrr. Amazing live performer and to think he is only 18. Best of Luck to you David.

So glad you enjoyed the show! I agree with you totally. You MUST see David live to truly appreciate his incredible talent. The second the concert ends, you want to see him again. You are absolutely right about Zero Gravity- it rocks!

Isn't it interesting how blown away everyone is by David's live show? The AI tour and even the JingleBalls were just a warm up for this solo tour. And when David is singing his own original stuff, it's magic. You are right to call him uber talented; if what I saw in Lancaster PA and Buffalo NY is any indication, we haven't seen anything yet!

My sentiments exactly! David is a dynamic and phenomenal live performer. His growth since last year is amazing - he ups the ante every time he takes the stage, and more than gives the fans their money's worth.

Thank you for your glowing and accurate review of David's concert! I had the privilege of seeing 2 of his concerts on this tour and there are just no words to describe them! David gets up on that stage and gives you everything he's got, baring his heart and soul for you, so that you will just enjoy the music. His voice is unlike any other. What a gift he has of taking you on the trip of a lifetime every time he sings. He also has an uncanny way of connecting with everyone in the audience with a smile, a wave, a look, something, that makes them feel like they are the only one in the room. A very special person indeed.

Hi All,
Just came home from the Reno concert! Nothing can really describe the INCREDIBLE experience! The BAD part about it was IT ENDED TOO QUICKLY! I wanted more and the people around me thought the same thing!! I felt like following him to the next concert, Idaho Falls. I know how you feel Annie, what dedication! Hope he goes to EUROPE! Europe needs DAVID'S MUSIC! What a market that would be. UK is in for a TREAT!

Hi Wellda and all fans. Glad you got to see David in Reno. The reviewer is right on the mark . David is the greatest of this generation. I've seen him four times and can't get enough. Europe and Asia are going to be knocked out by David's voice and charisma. What can I say? Everything GOOD is David Archuleta!

I caught the Idaho Falls concert, and he was awesome! It's amazing with the instruments up as loud as they are that he can still hit every note! He didn't miss a note all night. He was awesome! I hope on his next tour he does more with just him and the keyboard and less with the overly-amplified band!
