Melinda Doolittle "God Bless Us Everyone" Video Premiere

Melinda Doolittle has just premiered a video of random photos for her new Christmas song "God Bless Us Everyone". She sounds better than I remember! Anybody know why she (practically) shaved her head though?!

Melinda Doolittle On Praise The Lord

"I Will Be"

"People Get Ready" w/ Bo Bice

Interview (Pt. 1)

Interview (Pt. 2)

Melinda Doolittle was recently a guest on TBN's Praise The Lord, where she performed "I Will Be" off her debut album Coming Back To You & "People Get Ready" as a duet with sad-excuse-for-an-Idol-runner-up (for consistency's sake) Bo Bice. She sounded great! It's been too long since I've listened to her album. Melinda also sat down for an interview, where she was able to promote her new book "Beyond Me" & discuss how the process of writing it has inspired her to start writing for her sophomore album!

New Music Tuesday: Toni Braxton "Pulse"

After five years, Toni Braxton has returned to offer up one of the few musical efforts in a sea full of earaches-waiting-to-happen with Pulse. Featuring the singles "Yesterday", "Make My Heart", & "Hands Tied", Pulse is an excellent CD & easily worth the discounted price retailers are selling it for, so if you'd like to order your copy, feel free to click right HERE or on the album cover on the widget to your right.

Melinda Doolittle Performs In Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Check out some highlights of Melinda Doolittle currently starring as the narrator of "Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" in Pigeon Forge, TN. Melinda is so talented ..enough to be worthy of more than this, I almost hate to say. However, ironically enough, I visited there last year. How lucky of me...

"Come Together Now" Video Premiere

"Come Together Now" is the Michael W. Smith-led Haiti charity single featuring American Idol alumni Melinda Doolittle & Mandisa, among many others. It doesn't appear that Mandisa was given any solo parts, which is a shame, but Melinda was featured nicely & did a fine job. If you would like to support Haiti relief by purchasing this cool track, click HERE.

Melinda Doolittle To Release Book

On May 4th, Melinda Doolittle will release an inspirational, memoir-like book called "Beyond Me: Finding Your Way To Life's Next Level." In it, Melinda will let readers in on the keys to her success, which might just have a little something to do with that infectious optimism of hers. As it turns out, the winner of Melinda's Idol season & her good friend, Jordin Sparks, will provide the book's foreward. Cool!

Melinda Doolittle Performs On Holiday Lights

Melinda Doolittle participated in Holiday Lights, Boston's tree-lighting ceremony, by performing her single "It's Your Love" from Coming Back To You as well as "O Holy Night." Melinda shut it down as usual! I was particularly impressed with her rendition of "O Holy Night"--very nice. She & David Archuleta are killin' 'em this year with the Christmas music! P.S. I didn't want this to overshadow Melinda's great performances, what's with that minute-long intro that ended with her calling Melinda 'Melissa' ... SMH.

Melinda Doolittle Performs "I'm A Woman" On Good Day New York

Following a quick interview, Melinda Doolittle sang her Idol classic "I'm A Woman" on Good Day New York, where she was promoting her upcoming stint performing at an NY club. Melinda DID that! As always, of course. Reminds me of Idol's better days... when it was less about "artistry" crap & more about GREAT singers! I'm glad Melinda is doing her thing, so I'm sorry, but this isn't acceptable. Melinda, among a few other amazing talents who made it far on the show, should be doing much bigger, better things. Nonetheless, Melinda does have an album Coming Back To You out!

Melinda Doolittle "It's Your Love" Video Premiere

"It's Your Love" is the first single off Melinda Doolittle's debut album Coming Back To You. I had lost all hope of receiving a video, so I'm grateful to have something. That said, they couldn't have spent less on it ... but it's the music that truly counts.

Album Review: Melinda Doolittle "Coming Back To You"

Like many others, I had the pleasure of witnessing the rise of spunky powerhouse Melinda Doolittle from backup singer to front-&-center on the sixth season of American Idol. But did you really think finishing in third place was gonna stop her? In fact, it's done just the opposite, as Melinda is currently on the eve of her debut album's release, which is appropriately titled Coming Back To You. Melinda fans, like myself, have been eagerly awaiting her return & she is determined not to disappoint. How did Melinda do? Not too shabby.

Coming Back To You stays in line with the level of professionalism Melinda displayed while on Idol by starting off with "Fundamental Things," a big band number that prepares us for what's to come. First single "It's Your Love" is a nice throwback tune. The title track "Coming Back To You" slows things down a bit. "Declaration Of Love," an uptempo, is one of my favorites. Following are "The Best Of Everything" & "Wonderful," & though the latter is somewhat catchy, there are just some songs in this genre that, for people like me who aren't used to it, can just be too much.

Melinda is her picture-perfect self again on "Dust My Broom," which has her showing off that 'W-O-M-A-N' side we all know & love. The ballad "I'll Never Stop Loving You" has an especially throwback feel & shows off those signature Melinda vocals. "I Will Be" is another nice track, while "If I'm Not In Love" is probably my favorite song vocally. Never one to keep it too boring, "Walkin' Blues" displays her attitude very well. As the album starts to wrap up, "We Will Find A Way" is definitely placed correctly, but it's the superb "Wonder Why" that closes the album just right.

Since Coming Back To You never strays too far from one sound, the vocal stylings of Melinda Doolittle definitely save it. Still, this album is not only for those primarily interested in live instrumentation & should be given a chance by anyone looking for something different from today's norm. There's just nothing like experiencing pure talent.

Rating: 3.5/5 Stars

Melinda Doolittle Album Update

Melinda Doolittle will finally unleash her debut album very soon. The album, which is titled Coming Back To You, will drop in January. Melinda's first single from the set is "It's Your Love," which is set to impact radio this month. The 13-track project was recorded with live musicians. Check out this description of Coming Back To You:

From the first horn blasts of “Declaration Of Love,” listeners will feel a driving pulse & unstoppable energy that is reminiscent of Tina Turner’s iconic hits, while [title track] “Coming Back To You” & “Wonderful” feature Melinda’s silky voice wrapped around the smooth, sleek sounds of classic R&B. Melinda commands the emotional storytelling & funky delivery of the blues in “Dust My Broom” & “Walkin’ Blues,” & her impeccably artful & expressive voice has never been more on display than on the beautifully lush ballad “I’ll Never Stop Loving You” & the stripped down jazzy melody of “Wonder Why.”

Another song title (Melinda's favorite song on the album) is "The Best Of Everything." Sounds very encouraging. It's been a long time coming for us Melinda fans, but I know she will bring it. Oh, & by the way, you can hear a preview of "It's Your Love" HERE.
