LeToya Album Update

LeToya is busy recording her third solo album & has taken to Twitter to keep fans updated on what's going down. Recently, the former Destiny's Child singer logged studio time with Harvey Mason Jr. & songwriter Andre Merritt (Rihanna's "Disturbia"). Harvey did some great production on Toni Braxton's latest album Pulse & has been my hero ever since I found out he is the male singing voice on Pulse's last track "Why Won't You Love Me", so his work with LeToya should turn out nicely.

LeToya's Derek Blanks Alter-Ego Photoshoot

LeToya is the latest in a long line of celebs who have participated in photographer Derek Blanks' alter-ego photoshoot series. She actually has quite a bit going on: Her sophomore album Lady Love is available now, her movie "Preacher's Kid" arrives on DVD May 4th, & she apparently has a role in the Katherine Heigl/Ashton Kutcher comedy "Killers", which opens in theaters on June 4th.

LeToya "Good To Me" Video Premiere

"Good To Me" is the fourth single off LeToya's sophomore album Lady Love. I'd be shocked at this being her fourth single off this album too if I hadn't just watched one of the cheapest videos I've seen in my life. Capitol seriously sucks. I like "Good To Me" as a single, but at the same time, about half of her album is just as single-worthy (& that doesn't count her first two singles... ya know, the ones her label actually spent money to shoot videos for). Regardless, I do enjoy what we are getting & you should too!

LeToya On The Brian McKnight Show

"Torn"

Interview

LeToya was recently a guest on Brian McKnight's radio show, where they had a lively discussion followed by a performance of her first hit "Torn" with Brian accompanying on keyboard. I rather enjoyed the stripped-down rendition of what was imo a crappy song originally. Also, as mentioned in the interview, LeToya's acting debut "Preacher's Kid" has now been theatrically released in a limited number of theaters. (Uh oh! I put a LeToya post next to a Beyonce one! lol)

LeToya On The Mo'Nique Show

"Regret"

Interview

LeToya made a promotional appearance on The Mo'Nique Show in support of her new single "Regret" off Lady Love, which is available now. Her performance was good & the interview was enjoyable. Nice to see her *almost* show her frustrations with her label!

LeToya ft. Ludacris "Regret" Video Premiere

"Regret," featuring Ludacris, is miraculously the third single lifted from LeToya's sophomore album Lady Love. I've never been happier to see such an obvious product of the recession! Besides being forced to make some kind of video for the song after it reached a (current) peak of #8 & gained the Airplay Gainer status on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, Capitol Records' lack of promotion for such a hit-on-the-verge is most likely the stupidest label move I've heard about as long as I've been blogging--& there have been some STUPID decisions, let me tell ya. The fans have already done so much work FOR them & saved them SO much money, yet they won't invest the slightest amount to, say, send the single to pop stations so that it can become a crossover smash & make them oodles of money?! Some labels work their butts off to earn $ & fail... the others don't do anything & hope for $... but Capitol is practically being HANDED $ & they WON'T take it! Hey, Capitol Records! Let me run your label--I'll take the money!! Ugh. "Regret" is an awesome song, Lady Love is a great album, & LeToya deserves better for doing such a good job!

LeToya ft. Ludacris "Regret" Behind-The-Scenes

Following the pre-release chart success of LeToya's "Regret," her lazy label was forced to shoot a video to capitalize on the Ludacris-assisted song. Lucky us! The track's already beaten its Lady Love predecessors, so hopefully this video is released soon before the song starts to slip (ironically) from lack of promotion.

Billboard Update

^#1 Album #1 Single^

Colbie Caillat's Breakthrough enters this week's Billboard 200 album chart at the top spot. Imogen Heap sold 48,000 copies of her new album Ellipse to debut at #5, easily her highest sales week & chart position (her last album never went higher than #145) ever, while Ellipse also manages to top the Digital Albums chart. LeToya's Lady Love didn't fair too well, coming in at #12, though it does top the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The Black-Eyed Peas log a tenth week atop the Hot 100 singles chart with "I Gotta Feeling," making them only the fourth act in history to spend at least 10 weeks at #1 with multiple titles. People... it's not even that great of a song.

Interview

LeToya performed a couple singles off her new album Lady Love & sat down for an interview on The Tom Joyner Morning Show. Definitely a good watch.

LeToya Performs "Regret" On Good Day New York

LeToya gave her first televised performance of "Regret" following a short sit-down interview on Good Day New York. As is rumored to be the thought of the singer herself, "Regret" should've been the first single off LeToya's new album Lady Love. This performance would've been much better though if they had taken the mics away from those twins. Gives ya some insight into why they don't let anyone in PCD have a mic (that's turned on anyway...) other than Nicole, huh? I'm seriously considering buying Lady Love as soon as I find my way into some money. That's some good R&B right there, folks!

LeToya Performs "She Ain't Got..." On KTLA

LeToya kick starts her album release promotion for her sophomore effort Lady Love (August 25th) with this debut performance of "She Ain't Got..." on KTLA. I gotta give Toya props for singing live up against both a backing track & iffy-sounding background singers, & while throwing in some pretty cool dance moves throughout. I'm also feeling the need to show her a little more, well, 'lady love' because her new album is hot! It's a very nice R&B record (finally!)

LeToya Performs In Cleveland

To promote the release of her sophomore album Lady Love on August 25th, LeToya played a show at a very interesting venue in Cleveland, Ohio. Watch LeToya perform "Not Anymore," "Regret," & "Torn" above. I sure hope Toya can do a little better promo than this for the sake of her new album's success, but she did sound nice.

LeToya "Lady Love" Tracklisting + More

LeToya will be releasing her sophomore album Lady Love on August 25th (buzz or not, dangit!) There's been a tracklisting or two for the project floating around for a little while, but I waited until a credible source posted the right one & here it is:

1. Lady Love
2. She Ain't Got...
3. Not Anymore
4. Lazy
5. Good To Me
6. Over
7. Regret (ft. Ludacris)
8. I Need A U
9. Take Away Love (ft. Estelle)
10. After Party
11. Drained
12. Tears
13. Matter
14. Love Rollercoaster (ft. Mims)
15. Don't Need U

There've been a few leaks (notably "Regret" & "Lazy") that are stellar, so I'm actually anticipating this release, which I wasn't initially expecting. Another Estelle collabo is a plus as well! In related news, LeToya will be starring in "Preacher's Kid," which is set to be released on October 30th. She even sings in the film, the trailer for which is below, so take a look:

Teairra Mari, Others Pose With NFL Players

Teairra Mari, Melanie Fiona, & LeToya are featured in a new Vibe magazine spread involving NFL players. I couldn't really tell you why, nor would I be able to tell you who these guys are... but I guess it gives them some publicity!

LeToya "She Ain't Got..." Video Premiere

"She Ain't Got..." is the second single taken from LeToya's sophomore album Lady Love (August 25th). I don't really like the single choice because the edited version takes away from the entire point of the song. Nonetheless, she pulled out a pretty hot video for it.

LeToya "Lady Love" Cover

LeToya has unveiled the cover art for her forthcoming sophomore album Lady Love (August 25th). She's sticking with that date, huh?.. Well, ain't this a Sasha Fierce FAIL. Actually, the Beyonce ripoff wouldn't bug me if it weren't for the fact that she did it so badly, covering her face & all. I guess it could be worse though; she does look good herself.

LeToya "Not Anymore" Video Premiere

"Not Anymore" is the first single off LeToya's upcoming sophomore album Lady Love (May 19th). LeToya surprised me with this one because I wasn't seeing single potential at all when the song leaked. I can't help but feeling still that this kind of thing is better left to Beyonces & Kelly Clarksons, but LeToya is headed in the right direction nonetheless. I didn't give LeToya much of a chance when she came out as a solo artist because "Torn" didn't offer anything interesting to me, but a friend recently convinced me to give her debut album a shot & I quite liked it. I do like how LeToya is maturing musically though. As far as the video goes, though far from original, I really liked it as well. I'm a pretty big fan of director Bryan Barber's work.
