Shontelle "Say Hello To Goodbye" Video Premiere

"Say Hello To Goodbye" is the third single lifted from Shontelle's sophomore album No Gravity. The song, the video... all just alright. This is imo the worst song on the album. What can I say? It's no "Impossible"..!

Black Girls Rock! Recap

Keri Hilson "Breaking Point"

Fantasia "Brand New Day" // Fantasia, Kelly Price, Ledisi, & Marsha Ambrosius "I'm Every Woman"

Keyshia Cole "I Remember"

Monica "Still Standing"

Shontelle "Impossible"

I'm so glad videos from Sunday's Black Girls Rock! special on BET have finally surfaced because I watched it the night of & I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it! There were several enjoyable performances, more than I can say for most television special in recent years, & not only that, but everybody killed! I especially have to hand it to Keri Hilson, who was surprisingly (#noshade) pitch-perfect during her performance, so that was my favorite of the night. Fantasia closed the show with a number from "The Wiz" before bringing out three other divas to sing a classic. I love me some Kelly Price, but I never realized how incredible Ledisi's voice & Marsha Ambrosius' vibrato are! Keyshia Cole was another performance that I was surprised by vocally--I haven't heard her sing that well live in forever (again, #noshade)--I just wish she had done something new... You could tell Monica's been on tour the way she shut it down with her performance & Shontelle did a nice job as well. As far as the honors were concerned, Missy Elliott was presented (by my wife Ciara!) with the Visionary award! All around, a great special & a great night for BET (even if it is just a female-only BET Honors...lol).

Shontelle "Perfect Nightmare" Video Premiere

"Perfect Nightmare" is the second single lifted from Shontelle's sophomore album No Gravity. This director, Colin Tilley, who also just did Ciara's "Speechless", is really impressing me! I also must say that after hearing about No Gravity's poor first week sales, I had to go pick it up. Sure I felt bad for Shontelle, but the material definitely warranted the purchase (see: Darkchild!). I love this song!

Billboard Update

^#1 Album #1 Single^

Zac Brown Band debuted atop the latest Billboard 200 album chart (over the more-deserving Maroon 5) with You Get What You Give. Meanwhile, Shontelle's No Gravity started out at a ridiculously low #81 (although it is an improvement over where Shontelligence came in). Cocaine addict Bruno Mars remained atop the Hot 100 singles chart with "Just The Way You Are", while Dirty Money debuted @ #91 with their Drake-assisted "Loving You No More".

Shontelle Performs On Jimmy Kimmel

Perfect Nightmare

Impossible

Shontelle kicked off some early promo for her upcoming sophomore album No Gravity (September 21st) with awesome performances of her new single "Perfect Nightmare" & hit single "Impossible" on Jimmy Kimmel Live! I dunno, y'all... seems like No Gravity >>> Shontelligence... might just have to pick it up!

Shontelle "No Gravity" Tracklisting

Now that the September 21st release date for Shontelle's sophomore album has finally stuck, No Gravity is fast approaching, with it's tracklisting having just been unveiled. Take a look:

1. Perfect Nightmare
2. Impossible
3. No Gravity
4. Take Ova
5. Say Hello To Goodbye
6. DJ Made Me Do It
7. Love Shop
8. Helpless
9. Kiss You Up
10. T-Shirt (Radio Killa Remix)

Altogether now: O_o . Not only has a solid majority of the 10-song set already leaked, but... an old "T-Shirt" remix? As one of the *whopping* TEN tracks?! Also, note the absence of "Licky (Under The Covers)". Strange...

Shontelle "No Gravity" Cover

Shontelle graces the cover of her sophomore album No Gravity, which will be set free on August 24th thanks to hit first single "Impossible". I like it! I can't help but think of something similar She Who Must Not Be Named did recently... but who cares!

Billboard Update

^#1 Album #1 Single^

The latest Glee soundtrack The Power Of Madonna is on top of this week's Billboard 200 album chart. In other depressing news, the B.o.B/Bruno Mars collabo "Nothin' On You" remains atop the Hot 100 singles chart this week. Moving 8-6, Usher's will.i.am-assisted "OMG" earns both Digital & Airplay Gainer titles. Also, debuting this week are Shontelle @ #88 with "Impossible" & Ciara & Ludacris' "Ride" @ #93.

Shontelle "No Gravity" Update

Shontelle recently chatted with Rap-Up TV about her upcoming sophomore album No Gravity. She revealed some of the producers featured on the project, including Mr Hudson, The Jackie Boyz (Sean Kingston, Wynter Gordon), Tony Kanal of No Doubt, Jimmy Harry (Pink, David Archuleta), & Bruno Mars, among others. Hey, as far as I'm considered, I like "Impossible", so we'll see!

Shontelle "Impossible" Video Premiere

"Impossible" is the first US single lifted from Shontelle's forthcoming sophomore album No Gravity. The video, which was directed by TAJ (Anthony Mandler's protege), is pretty good, but what I REALLY like is that song! As for the end of the video though, don't you get the feeling sometimes that they just shoot too much footage & overestimate the length of the song... ya know lol? Nah, I'm looking forward to Shontelle's new album!

Shontelle "Licky (Under The Covers)" Video Premiere

"Licky (Under The Covers)" is the first UK single off Shontelle's upcoming sophomore album. The Ray Kay-directed clip has his signature cool look to it... but unfortunately, that's where the non-mess begins & ends for me. She just comes off as desperately trying to imitate Rihanna... & that song title... don't even get me started on that ridiculation! I'm staying optimistic about the album though, partially due to "Impossible" (the first US single).

Melanie Fiona & Shontelle Perform Motown Tribute On Lions Vs. Packers Halftime Show

Melanie Fiona, Shontelle, & a slew of other current Motown artists celebrated the label's 50th anniversary with a Motown tribute during the halftime show for the Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day game against the Green Bay Packers. Melanie sang "I'll Be There" before Shontelle rolled up to "Ain't No Mountain High Enough;" then, everyone joined together for the big "Dancing In The Street" finale. The two ladies sounded great along with everyone else. This is great exposure for them as well! Good stuff.

Shontelle "Battle Cry (New Version)" Video Premiere

"Battle Cry" is (still) the second single taken from Shontelle's debut album Shontelligence. I'm glad the song has been given a proper video after the Obama-inspired one late last year. The video isn't exactly big budget, but it's alright. This girl has some decent material & I wish she were having more success.

Shontelle Performs "T-Shirt" On Album Chart Show

Shontelle did a little UK promotion recently by performing her hit single "T-Shirt" off Shontelligence on their Album Chart Show. This did not sound very good, but I wouldn't say Shontelle is completely to blame. The backup singer that was on the chorus, though a decent singer, does not sound good with Shontelle at all... SMH.

Shontelle ft. Akon "Stuck With Each Other" Video Premiere

"Stuck With Each Other," featuring Akon, is Shontelle's new single from the "Confessions Of A Shopaholic" soundtrack. This one doesn't do anything for me. I wonder what the idea behind releasing this is though, considering the track is not on her album Shontelligence. That's sure no way to sell a record!

Shontelle On Who's Next? + More

"T-Shirt"

Interview

Here's something fresh. Check out Shontelle's first live performance (that I know of) of her first single "T-Shirt" as well as an interview done on Yahoo's Who's Next? The first chorus & the bum note at the end (no clue what happened) aside, she sounded really good. Not quite the performer Rihanna is yet, but it's a start. In fact, in the interview, she says she knew Rihanna when they were little. I guess Barbados is pretty small! You can watch Shontelle lip-synching "T-Shirt" ... & falling over(!) on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade below:

Shontelle's debut album Shontelligence is available now. Btw, am I the only one who expected her to have a much stronger accent?

Billboard Update

^This week's #1 album on the Billboard 200 chart
This week's #1 single on the Hot 100 chart^

See full charts HERE.

Beyonce debuted 'fiercely' atop the Billboard 200 album chart this week with her third album I Am... Sasha Fierce after selling a whopping 482,000 copies. With all the promotion she's been doing this week, Bee will go platinum in no time, so congrats to her. Unfortunately, Shontelle debuted at a ridiculously low #115 with her new album Shontelligence. She definitely deserves better. T.I. continues his reign in the #1 spot of the Hot 100 singles chart this week with the Rihanna-assisted "Live Your Life." Giving them a run for their money, however, is Beyonce because her song "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" shoots 28-2 after selling 204,000 copies in its first week available as a digital single. This means that the hottest chick in the game has now out-peaked herself, as "If I Were A Boy" currently sits at its peak of #3.
