Cassie is amongst those starring in a new ad campaign for CK One. I guess she's become a full-time model *sigh* Electro Love had such potential...

Katy Perry & Snoop Dogg's "California Gurls" continues its reign atop the Hot 100 singles chart this week, while Christina Aguilera debuts @ #66 with "Bionic" & re-enters @ #73 & #99 with "Not Myself Tonight" & the Nicki Minaj-assisted "Woohoo", respectively. In addition, OneRepublic's "Secrets" debuts @ #98. (Photo Credit: Wikipedia)

Cassie "Op" Ads

Cassie is back to doing what she does best--modeling--in this year's Op ads for Walmart (Solange was featured in them last summer). It's nice to see her with her hair parted to cover up that ghastly half-shaved head! Meanwhile, Cassie' sophomore album Electro Love is set for release sometime during the 22nd century.

Cassie "Electro Love" Update

Cassie recently revealed some details about her sophomore album Electro Love from the VMA red carpet, which is currently set for release early next year. The project should see collaborations with Pharrell Williams on the track "Hide," Nicki Minaj, & Jadakiss, most likely on "Make You A Believer," as well as Akon, who is featured on her current single "Let's Get Crazy." Judging by all the leaks--with the exception of every single that's been released for the album thus far--Cassie could just bring the heat with this album. The one I mentioned, "Make You A Believer," is my favorite leak so far, so check that one out if you don't think Cassie has anything to offer. I just wish the poor girl could get the album out within the two-year span it's taken to do so.

Who Sang It Better? Beyonce Vs. Cassie

That title sounds like a joke, I know. Still, Jay-Z has both his wife Beyonce & Cassie singing the hook on two different versions of the same song, "Venus Vs. Mars," which is featured on his new album The Blueprint 3 (September 11th). Word is, Beyonce has replaced Cassie on the album version, yet Cassie is the one credited in the album booklet. Obviously, due to the content of the lyrics, Beyonce is the choice that makes more sense. Now, I don't know what's wrong with me, but I *gulp* kinda like Cassie better on the part. In my defense, even though Beyonce has the best voice of the two, Cassie's strength is being a hook singer.

Cassie ft. Diddy "Must Be Love" Video Premiere

"Must Be Love," featuring Diddy, will now serve as the first single off Cassie's upcoming sophomore album Electro Love. The video's cheap & she looks hideous. That on top of a crappy song. SMH.

Cassie ft. Diddy "Must Be Love": Behind-The-Scenes

The utter embarassment formerly known as Cassie filmed the music video for "Must Be Love," the new single off her upcoming sophomore album, yesterday. Looks like it should be dull. Of course, you know Diddy had to jump on it as if his presence would be something positive for the record. *SMH*

Cassie & Diddy In The Studio

Here's some footage of Cassie in the studio mixing her new single "Must Be Love" with Diddy, who is featured on the track. The song, most of which can be heard in the clip, sounds fairly decent. Cassie is tentatively scheduled to release her sophomore album in July.

Cassie Album Update

Cassie has recently added Pharrell Williams & Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins to the long list of producers working on her as-yet-untitled sophomore album, which is due in the spring of 2009. The other producers that have been enlisted thus far include Kanye West, Danja, Ryan Leslie, Mario Winans, Bryan-Michael Cox, The-Dream, & Tricky Stewart. All I have to say is that she's lucky they moved her release date to next year because there are way too many much better R&B ladies slated for releases this year.

Ryan Leslie ft. Cassie & Fabolous "Addiction" Alternate Video Premiere

Here's another video *SMH* for Ryan Leslie's latest single "Addiction," which features Cassie & Fabolous, off his upcoming self-titled album. On a positive note, this video is miles ahead of the other one. Something actually happens in this one & it involves Jaslene Gonzalez (America's Next Top Model). Still, however, Cassie was too busy doing all that nothing that she's done since Ryan's last video for this song premiered to be in this version either, though Fabolous does appear again (lucky us.) I think it's pretty sad that they got a Cassie look-a-like for this version when they had a (sorta) famous person to begin with, but whatever.

Ryan Leslie ft. Cassie & Fabolous "Addiction" Video Premiere

"Addiction," featuring Cassie & Fabolous, is the latest single off Ryan Leslie's forthcoming self-titled album. Ryan Leslie may have discovered Cassie, but due to her *skyrocketing* music career (lol), she is apparently too busy to appear in his video. Unfortunately, the video looks very cheap & is extremely boring. Dig the song, though.

Cassie ft. Lil' Wayne "Official Girl" Video Premiere

"Official Girl," featuring Lil' Wayne, is the first single taken from Cassie's forthcoming sophomore album, which is due early next year. I like Cassie to a certain degree, but it's never been because of her talent. Some of her material has hot production that flows great with her soft vocals. "Official Girl," imo, is not one of those songs. I'm not all that impressed with the video either. Though it appears to be high budget, the money seems to have been wasted. Sure, she's doing what she does best the whole time--looking good--but that's all. No emotion, practically no story. While I'm not trying to bash Cassie, I would hate for her to see more success than the (many) more deserving artists.

Cassie ft. Lil' Wayne "Official Girl": Sneak Peek

Check out this first look at Cassie's new video "Official Girl," which features Lil' Wayne. "Girl" is the first single off Cassie's sophomore album, which is set to drop later this year. It's actually pretty cool because the clip is set up like a movie trailer, however I'm not really anticipating this video, so whatever. Do be aware that the trailer is only the beginning of the video, as the rest is simply the song.

Cassie ft. Lil' Wayne "Official Girl": Behind-The-Scenes

Here is a first look at the video for Cassie's first single "Official Girl," which now features Lil' Wayne. It looks nice enough & I think I might be warming up to the song a bit. Cassie's sophomore effort is set for release this September.

Cassie "Official Girl" Song Premiere

Check out Cassie & Diddy, head of her label, Bad Boy Records, premiering her first single "Official Girl" taken from her as-yet-untitled sophomore album, which is due in September. The song is produced by Danja & was written by Keri Hilson's team The Clutch, which is cool. However, Cassie may be trying to gain a 'most improved' title this time around, but unfortunately, I'm just not buying it. For me, the song makes it all-the-more obvious how little vocal range she has (especially with that Karina Pasian demo making the rounds...). I guess I can't hate her for trying, though. BTW, Diddy pimps Cassie for a while in the beginning in his usual manner, so you can skip that to get to the song.

While I Was Away...

So, as many of you may have noticed, I didn't update for about a week. I had to go out of town to a convention for a while & didn't have time to let everyone know where I was going, so I apologize for that. However, never fear, because I have all the news right here just for you:

If I have to go away again, I'll do all I can not to leave ya hangin'! Hope you enjoy =D

Cassie "Is It You" Video Premiere

"Is It You" is Cassie's single from the soundtrack to her new movie "Step Up 2: The Streets." She is one of the stars of the film (that I am not too excited about) and contributes to the soundtrack with this decent track. While the video is quite boring, it gives what I think is an encouraging hint at what is to come from her as-yet-untitled sophomore effort, supposedly due May 20th. Though she is no Beyonce, I find her simple vocals and, in turn, tracks nice. I do wonder if they are trying to make a video for every song on the soundtrack, with this, Missy's upcoming 2-songs-in-1 3D venture, and Trey Songz's unnecessary remix video, but that doesn't mean if we see 800 videos with clips of the film that we are going to go see it. Still, I've compiled all you need to know about the soundtrack HERE.
