Whitney Houston has started international promotion for her new album I Look To You with a performance of the disc's title track on Wetten Dass in Germany. She sounded pretty good too!

Brandy Sings "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" On YouTube
Last night, Brandy posted a video of herself on YouTube singing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" with, as she would like to stress, no makeup... "sleepy eyes"... wrong lyrics. HA like I care! This is 1) one of the best vocals showings I've heard in quite a while, 2) why Brandy is one of the most underrated talents in the industry, & 3) yet another reason why I love my Rocka so much. Do yourself a HUGE favor & pick up her newest album Human ASAP!
The Caffeine Patch: New Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel Trailer
The first trailer of "Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" that really gives us an idea of its plot has hit the net. I love those adorable 'munks... & did you hear them singing "Single Ladies?!" Yes! The movie opens Christmas Day.

Mariah Carey stopped by The View yesterday for a chat & to perform the latest single off her new album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel. Great performance. Y'all get that album now, ya hear?
Usher "Monster" Update
Usher is preparing for the release of his sixth studio album Monster in December. The set's first single is titled "Papers" & is slated to debut on this coming Monday, October 5th. The Sean Garrett-penned song is about Usher's divorce (hence the original title "Filing Papers"). Usher has one of the best male R&B voices out there, so I'm anticipating this new single & album. However, let's look at something here. Exhibit A: Usher's last majorly successful album Confessions was about his previous public break-up. Exhibit B: His last album Here I Stand was primarily about how he felt regarding being married. Exhibit C: "Papers" is about his subsequent divorce. Now, I understand that artists write about personal experiences, but when EVERYTHING you do is on the very same subject that keeps you in the (tabloid) headlines all the time..? Kind of annoying. I mean, I'm personally sick of hearing about Usher's personal life because I'm interested in his music, so when all his music is about is the same stuff, it turns me off a little. Just look at Mariah's new album: She's happily married, but managed to write/sing about a variety of personal experiences & subjects. But who knows. I could be reading too much into this & I should probably just hear the music first. We'll see.[Source, Source]

Christina Aguilera Album Update
As Rap-Up slowly announces details from their interview with Tricky Stewart, we gradually learn that Tricky is apparently the hardest working man in, or behind rather, show business. In addition to Mariah Carey & Ciara, he has been working with Christina Aguilera on her upcoming fourth album. On the at least one track Tricky put together for her, he enlisted Flo Rida for a feature. Tricky also revealed that the album, due next year, is finished, but is on hold so that Christina can properly promote it because she's currently concentrating on filming her movie-musical "Burlesque" with Cher. As for the record though, here's how he describes it:"She’s mixing it up again. She's singing R&B again, she's doing pop. She's doing it all, but she's found a way to make it all meet in the middle because she's so many different things. She's a real serious musician, she's a real serious pop artist, & she's a real serious singer. She's making all her audiences happy at the same time."
I guess mainly what we can take from this is that Christina's new album won't be completely electro-sounding, so that's a bit of a relief. Flo Rida is a slight question mark, but this is Christina we're talking about, so I'm not worried. I don't know how long we're gonna have to wait for "Burlesque" (hopefully not as long as we always have to for Christina's albums), but I'm dying to see it!

Dondria In The Studio
Well, you can't say they never gave you any behind-the-scenes footage! It may be all we'll ever get from the lovely & talented Dondria, but it's something... hopefully just for now though. I'm curious: If you were gonna put out her debut album Dondria Vs. Phatfffat last July, what exactly were you gonna put ON it if you're STILL recording it?! lol

*UPDATED* The 2009 MOBO Awards Recap
The 2009 MOBO, or Music Of Black Origin, Awards were held in Scotland recently & Kelly Rowland did have some technical difficulties while performing "When Love Takes Over" with David Guetta. However, Kelly sounded amazing in what was one of her best showings of the song so far! Apparently, she sounds better when she's angry lol. Keri Hilson was on hosting duties, but also performed, although her performance still hasn't shown up online. Keri managed to walk away with the Best R&B award, while Beyonce won a pair of awards: Best International Performer & Best Video for "Single Ladies." Congrats, ladies!
UPDATE: Keri's hot performance of "Energy" & "Knock You Down" with special guest Taio Cruz has finally surfaced:

Listen To Backstreet Boys' "This Is Us"
The Backstreet Boys release their album This Is Us on October 6th. There's no need to wait, however, because you can listen to This Is Us in its entirety right now, right HERE. Give it a try--you may be surprised!
Solange Appears On Oprah
Solange made her appearance on Oprah yesterday that she was so excited about on Twitter recently. In conjunction with Chris Rock's promotion of his new documentary "Good Hair," Solange discussed her decision to shave her head. I'm not sure whether I prefer her with or without hair, but I do agree that she looks great either way! Solange, you even got me bumpin' that album of yours again! "Sandcastle Disco" is still my jam!
Ryan Leslie "Transition" Cover
Ryan Leslie goes green for the cover of his sophomore album Transition (November 3rd). I do think it's an improvement over his debut's cover. If I'm being honest, I don't love his single "You're Not My Girl," but I am optimistic about this album nonetheless.[Source]
Mariah Carey "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" Behind-The-Scenes
A new video chronicling the making of Mariah Carey's new album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, including behind-the-scenes footage of her throwback photoshoots, "Obsessed" videos, in the studio, & "Forever" fragrance photoshoot, has surfaced. I enjoyed it all, but one thing caught my eye: Did Mariah recreate the look she had in her "Honey" video as well?! Need. Pictures. Now. In the meantime, be sure you take advantage of Amazon's deal HERE to get Mariah's Memoirs album for $5.99!
